About The Academy
Since 1979, the Chilliwack Academy of Music has provided high quality music instruction and programming in all styles, for students of all ages and abilities living in Chilliwack and the surrounding communities. Operating as a non-profit charitable society, the Academy directly serves 800 students a year from newborn through adult who are taught by highly trained and experienced faculty, and is a proud member of the B.C. Association of Community Music Schools.

Expert instruction is offered in piano, voice, strings, guitar, woodwinds, brass, percussion, music theory and music history in a caring and supportive environment. Special programs include the Academy String Orchestra, Chilliwack Festival Chorus, Intergenerational Choir, Group Guitar and custom designed early childhood music classes for newborn through 5 year olds called “Music Makers.”
The Academy contributes to the community by:
- Offering a music course each Fall in the UFV ElderCollege program
- Providing financial assistance and competitive scholarships
- Organizing and producing over 30 concerts, recitals and events each year
- Providing an early childhood music outreach program
- Participating with other community groups to sponsor and produce the Music and More Summer Concert and Activity Series
- Jointly administering the Young Artist Solo Competition with the Chilliwack Symphony
- Cataloguing and lending sheet music from our library of over 6,000 titles
- Presenting masterclasses and workshops each year that are free and open to the public
- Giving all students in the community free admission to Academy performances
